When Janene Branc was a toddler, she would have a pack of unknown dogs surrounding her, licking her hands and following her around, and all she said was "pup pup". Throughout her childhood, she was constantly bringing stray dogs home. As a young adult, she owned her first dog, an Australian Cattle Dog, and her life took on new meaning and direction.
After completing the Certificate IV in Dog Behavioural Training, DOGOLOGY® was created by Janene Branc in April 2002 as a local (Sydney based) Pet Dog Behaviour Training service, specialising in in-home training programs. Using the principles of operant conditioning – positive, reward based training – Dogology® has assisted many owners and their dogs to have a better relationship, and the dogs to be happy and well behaved.
Janene offers a variety of structured programs, and can customise a program to suit any specific requirements, and also runs Puppy Classes at a local Veterinary practice.
Ten years on and Janene is as passionate as ever about improving the well being of the canine. She says "I am privileged to be able to do what I love, and love what I do – I’m on a mission for dog! Helping dogs and their owners is my calling, my vocation – it is what I was meant to do with my life. The differing challenges that each dog presents to me keeps me on my toes, and makes me empathetic to their needs. Each dog is an individual, and that must be respected. I keep my skills up to date by attending seminars and dog training conferences, and reading books about Ethology and Canine Psychology – two of my favourite interests. I am looking forward to the next ten years!"
Janene has been a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (Australia) since 2001, and has been the APDT(A) NSW State Representative since 2011. She currently owns two Australian Cattle Dogs, and trains and competes in Obedience, Rally-O, Sheep Herding, Agility and Jumping with them both.
